Chișinău State Circus
The 1981 State Circus on Circului street · a brutalist building with juggling clowns on the facade, four seasons a year per the site
The Christmas or autumn show in the 1981 ring, with the juggling clowns on the facade at the entrance
Worth it for a seasonal show with the kids, if you catch one of the four seasons on the site, or just for the brutalist facade with juggling clowns · the reviews about an empty building are contradicted by the published programme, but check first.
The State Circus at Circului street 33, in Râșcani, run by the Ministry of Culture, with a box office by phone and its own site. The site keeps the programme archive and shows four seasons a year, with seasonal titles · a summer programme from May to the end of June, a spring one in March, a Christmas one from late December into January and an autumn one from September to October, such as "Vivat arena". The building, per a review quoting its history, opened in 1981, designed by Ala Kirichenko and Simion Shoyhet, with 1,900 seats and a ring over 12 metres across, "at the time a top circus venue, with spaces for rehearsals, animals and veterinarians", where artists came from Belarus, China, Finland, Germany, Russia and Ukraine. Other reviews look mostly at the building: "a fantastic looking example of socialist modernism · check out the juggling clowns above the door", "a fine piece of Soviet brutalism"; some, probably older, describe it "being refurbished" or "empty, surrounded by inflatable dinosaurs", with a dinosaur park for kids outside. "Great Christmas show", says one review.

“"The Chisinau Circus was built in 1981 by Ala Kirichenko and Simion Shoyhet. The Chisinau State Circus was officially opened in 1981 and was, at the time, a top circus entertainment venue with state-of-the-art equipment and spaces for rehearsals, animals, and veterinarians.
