Aquatir is one of Eastern Europe's largest sturgeon farms — massive indoor pools where thousands of fish swim, from stellate sturgeon to beluga, raised for caviar that's exported worldwide. The guided tour takes you through the pools (blue overalls mandatory), explains the years-long growth cycle, and ends with a tasting of fresh caviar straight from the source. It's the kind of stop standard tourism completely misses — no wine, no monastery, just a fascinating agro-industrial curiosity, right next to Tiraspol. “FYI call and book a tour in advance! We arrived and they were not able to take us inside. There is no lobby or store or museum, only the factory. Giving 5 stats because they were kind and polite. You cannot enter the factory without prebooking several days in advance so they can schedule a guide.”
