Cheese dairy with daily-fresh products, in-store tastings and a yellow-orange façade by the Hîncești highway
Trio tasting at the shop: 6-month-aged cașcaval, fresh urdă and cheese-with-dill — taste before you buy, plus 1L of fresh daily milk
Dancu Tabita has been making cașcaval in Dancu village, just off the Chișinău-Hîncești highway, for over a decade. The small shop attached to the dairy has a yellow-orange façade, a round 'Cașcaval de Dancu' sign above the door and a chalkboard A-board with 'Welcome!' at the entrance. Inside you'll find cașcaval at various ages (fresh, semi-aged, 6-month-aged), urdă, cheese with dill and with caraway, plus daily milk. The hours are generous (8–20 Mon-Thu, 8–22 Fri-Sat, 24h Sundays), perfect for a stop on the way south. Locals know it as one of the most consistent small cheese makers in the area.

“It was the best place to visit while visiting maldova! Whoever visits here, they need to here and try their various cheeses. They are freshly made here and there is a bakery in the making. Cheese tasting was a lot of fun”
“This is a wonderful place! So inspiring how they started from nothing to build up to where they are today; bread, cheese, milk, coffee shop, pastries, a dairy farm, crops, and more. It all began with a vision of “the golden tree” given by God and they have followed His leading all along the way. Fabulous!”
“Our group had the honor of visiting Dimitri’s cheese operation. He’s a brilliant, compassionate, determined individual that shared his amazing story. We were touched and blessed to meet him and and family.”
- A simple village shop — no café or seating
- Limited English, but staff are friendly and patient
- Stock varies — some specialty cheeses sell out by afternoon
