Worth it for the view and for standing at the country highest point. Do not count on signage: one visitor says there is no board and no signposts at the top.
The highest point in Moldova, at 429 metres, on a hill between Ungheni and Bălți. One visitor also describes the way there: from the railway station on the border with Romania you can take a transit to the foot of the hill, to the village of Bălănești, from where a trail marked with a yellow tourist sign sets off. The view from the top is described as breathtaking, and the trail itself gives good views on the way up. One visitor recommends it as a hard climb or as a trek along the whole ridge. The peak is included in the Crown of Europe, notes a four-star review, which adds that the approach is not long but is muddy. What is missing is the signage: a three-star visitor says there is no indication at all that this is the highest point in the country, no signposts and no board at the top. The climb from Bălănești is steep on this side, and public transport does not reach it easily.

“There is no sign of any information about the fact of being the highest peak in Moldavia. No signposts, no board on the top. But the peak is quite nice. Climbing up from Balanesti is not so easy, beacause the peak is quite steep from this side. Nice view from the trail. Important thing - it's no easy to get there by public transportation.”
