Bălănești Hill (429 m above sea level) is the highest peak in Moldova, located on a wooded ridge between Ungheni and Bălți. The ascent from Bălănești village is steep and takes 45–60 minutes, marked by a yellow tourist trail sign. From the summit you'll see sweeping views of plains, oak forests, and scattered villages stretching to the horizon. This is a destination for moderately challenging trekking, with no tourist facilities – no clear signage at the top, no cafe or kiosk – just raw nature and silence. Access is best by car; public transport is limited.

“There is no sign of any information about the fact of being the highest peak in Moldavia. No signposts, no board on the top. But the peak is quite nice. Climbing up from Balanesti is not so easy, beacause the peak is quite steep from this side. Nice view from the trail. Important thing - it's no easy to get there by public transportation.”
