The Trebujeni landscape reserve is the natural setting of the Orheiul Vechi complex, 36 km north-east of Chișinău as the crow flies · the meanders of the Răut carved into limestone promontories, white cliffs and the villages of Trebujeni and Butuceni, with stone houses. From the high plateaus you see the site's amphitheatre and the river loop from above. A walk along the ridges combines naturally with the cave monastery at Butuceni and a meal at a village guesthouse. An accessible ≈ 5.8 km loop (≈ 140 m gain, 1.5-2 h) along the ridge over Butuceni and Trebujeni, with views of the Răut meander and the cave complex. A longer ~22 km hard route also exists.
