Eugène Ionesco National Theatre
Eugène Ionesco National Theatre (1991) — founded September 11, 1991 with Ionesco's personal consent, Petru Vutcărău troupe, own venue since 2007 in former «Moscova».
Show in absurd repertoire (Ionesco/Beckett) + tour of recycled «Moscova» building.
Eugène Ionesco National Theatre is one of Chișinău's main theatres, founded on September 11, 1991 — shortly after the Republic of Moldova's declaration of independence. Initiative: a team of actor-graduates from the prestigious «B. Shchukin» Theatre School in Moscow, led by director Petru Vutcărău. Eugène Ionesco, the great Romanian-French playwright, personally agreed that the new Moldovan theatre should bear his name — a deeply symbolic gesture. Since February 2007, by governmental decision, the theatre has its own venue — the former «Moscova» recreation centre building.
