Small but meticulously restored museum located in Butuceni village, at the gateway to Old Orhei. The collection traces key chapters of human settlement from the Late Palaeolithic (30,000-20,000 BCE) through the medieval period, with ancient human skeletons, pottery, tools, and weapons displayed in illuminated cases. Educational panels and evolution murals make the prehistory of this UNESCO-candidate site accessible to all ages. Free admission and a one-hour visit make it a perfect primer before hiking up to the cave monastery and fortifications carved into the limestone cliffs above.
