The „Prutul de Jos" Biosphere Reserve, where the Prut meets the Danube, in the south of the country. It is the only site in Moldova included in the UNESCO world network of biosphere reserves. The reserve office, where visits start and where information is asked for, is at Văleni and is open daily, with shorter hours at weekends. Visitor reviews are short but say three consistent things: the place is beautiful, it is quiet, and it has a large variety of birds.
