Reședința Rotundu
Boutique pension with cobalt-blue façade and a hand-carved wooden terrace · shabby-chic design in the heart of Butuceni
Two-night stay with farm-to-terrace lunch on day one + day-two exploration of cave monastery and ridge views · ~3500 MDL for two
Reședința Rotundu is the Rotundu family's boutique property on Butuceni's main road — cobalt-blue façade, hand-carved eaves with Romanian geometric motifs, a covered terrace on stilts with old wooden tables and recycled turquoise chairs, an upstairs balcony under a black-wood pergola. The design is deliberately shabby-chic — vintage pieces reassembled (tables, mirrors, period lamps), embroidered cushions, hand-painted ceramics, all in a blue-and-rust palette. The rooms are small, intimate, each with its own visual story. The terrace restaurant runs slow lunches with farm produce — placinte, wood-fired lamb, walnut desserts. A favorite of Moldovan wedding photographers.

“Honestly, some of the best tasting local food, and at a reasonable price. You can take a short hike to a local monastery, taste local wine, or just enjoy the fresh air. If you get up from your seat, you might come back to find it occupied by some local thieves (you can see them pictured in one of the photos). If you're visiting Moldova for the first time, I would definitely …”
