Why it’s worth visiting

The most refined place to sleep around Orheiul Vechi, with a level of design and service you will not find in the surrounding villages. The hosts are present and attentive, and the food and spa draw constant praise. Worth it for a slow weekend, as a couple or with a small group that books the whole villa.

The story

Five rooms with names of their own (Hideaway, Horizon, Stillness, Terrace and Scent), a heated 14-metre infinity pool suspended over the Răut valley with its own pool bar, and a spa, all in Butuceni, on the edge of the Orheiul Vechi reserve. The SILK restaurant cooks farm-to-table, with black truffles from the local forests and tasting menus that change with the season. There is also teppanyaki, which the venue presents as the only one in Moldova, and a wine cellar with tastings. It can be booked whole for a group, with a 50-person terrace for weddings and events. Reviews consistently praise the hosts, who are present and attentive, the food, the pool and the spa · one guest describes the massage as marvellous. The hosts give the drive from Chișinău as 45 minutes.
