Restaurant-Hotel "Hanul lui Hanganu"
Agritourism inn on the bank of the Dniester at Lalova - Moldovan cuisine, a cellar of homemade fruit brandies and a riverside sauna
A traditional table with sarmale in vine leaves, plăcinte and zeamă, plus a tour of master Sergiu's artisanal liqueur distillery
Worth it for a weekend escape on the bank of the Dniester, away from the city - rustic lodging, homemade Moldovan food, a riverside sauna and a boat trip. A good base for the nearby Țipova and Saharna cave monasteries.
Hanul lui Hanganu is an agritourism complex on the bank of the Dniester in the village of Lalova (Rezina district) - a rustic restaurant-hotel with accommodation for up to 60 people in 7 room types (from apartments and double rooms to traditional houses with a wood stove), built from natural materials, with private bathrooms and underfloor heating. The restaurant serves traditional Moldovan cuisine, and the cellar keeps over 20 kinds of homemade țuică (fruit brandy) for tasting. There is a sauna by the river, and the hosts arrange boat trips on the Dniester, fishing and outdoor outings. A quiet spot for a weekend escape in the heart of the Moldovan countryside, with river views and rural hospitality.
- genuine Moldovan cooking, made by hand by the hosts
- Sergiu and his wife welcome you themselves and show you the distillery
- a quiet spot on the bank of the Dniester, away from the noise
- Lola, the house dog, makes the place warm and friendly
- dishes made from carefully chosen local ingredients
- The wooden terrace looking onto the Dniester and the orchard
- The small distillery with its copper still
- The table of traditional Moldovan dishes on ceramic plates

Hanul lui Hanganu is another place I really enjoy along the Nistru. The views are beautiful and the food is great, but what always stands out to me is their incredible cellar. It's one of the most creative I've seen in Moldova, with a huge variety of homemade distillates infused with different fruits and herbs. It's a place I like incorporating into trips through this part of Moldova because you can combine nature and exploration during the day with great food and a relaxed evening by the river.

“It is a wonderful place in the middle of nowhere on the border with the neighbouring separatist Transnistrian Republic. The owner and his wife are very friendly and they always keep their hands on the business. The surrounding environment is wonderful which shows the life of the deep Moldavian village life. The food is carefully selected using local food and recipes. We felt ex…”
