Worth it for the park and the architecture seen from outside, if you are already in the north. One visitor says outright they would not recommend a special trip from Chișinău.
The former manor of the banker Andrei Pommer, at Țaul, in the north of the country, about 160 km from Chișinău. One visitor describes him as an Odessa banker who rose to head the Russian Foreign Trade Bank in St Petersburg and built the manor in Bessarabia because his wife family came from the Soroca area. In soviet times a sanatorium operated here, drawing people from across the Union. The surrounding park has, per one review, 49 hectares, with trees brought from China, Japan and Korea alongside local species, and is pleasant to walk in summer, in the shade. Entry is free. The buildings, however, are closed and can only be seen from outside, and their condition is poor: reviews speak of a botched reconstruction in the eighties and of structures on the verge of collapse. There is no museum, although the internet says there is. There is no restaurant or bar nearby either, the closest being in Drochia or Dondușeni, so it is worth bringing food.
