Țaul Park
64 hectares of wild forest, historic pond, and a crumbling French manor from 1914
The largest dendrological park in Moldova - 46 ha around a lake, with over 150 tree species, many exotic, planted a century ago by banker Pommer. Worth it for a long walk among rare trees, especially in autumn; combine it with the manor in the park.
Țaul Park is Moldova's largest dendrological park - 46 hectares around a lake, with over 150 species of trees and shrubs, many exotic (from Eurasia and North America). It was planted between 1900 and 1904 by banker Andrei Pommer, around his manor. Today the park is open free of charge, but the infrastructure is left to decay: the paths are unkempt, and the Pommer manor (a monument of national importance) has awaited a full restoration for years. Worth a walk for the sheer scale of the park and its raw natural beauty - come prepared for an authentic place, not for modern amenities. Most beautiful in spring at bloom and in late autumn.

“The park sits on 64 hectares and has a 2 hectare pond. It has 150 plant species, some uncommon for the area. Not very well maintained. A big minus is the Soviet era little zoo, with some chickens and swans in small, dirty cages. The mansion in the park was erected in 1914 by a French- Russian banker. There is a plan to renew the building, but it is on paper only.”
“It's huge. And it's the biggest park in moldova . There is a lot of animals and antique abandoned homes . But , still the place is Rich of natural beauty . Your evenings will be great in this park .”
“The place was beautiful one day, but nowadays is really abandoned. What a waste of precious touristic attraction!”
- Abandoned infrastructure, neglected paths
- A small, dirty zoo with birds in cages
- The historic manor in ruins, with no clear renovation plan
