The «A.S. Pushkin» House-Museum on Anton Pann Street 19 is one of only 2 Pushkin houses preserved in the entire world where the great Russian poet actually lived. Young Pushkin (21) was exiled here by the Tsarist regime (for political epigrams) and arrived in Chișinău in September 1820. He spent 3 years (1820-1823) in the Bessarabian Gubernia. The house belonged to General Inzov, the then-governor. Officially became a museum on February 10, 1948. Exhibits: documents on Pushkin in Chișinău, paintings, graphics, decorative objects from late 18th-early 19th c, sculptures, editions of works written in Bessarabia (Pushkin began Eugene Onegin here).
