Dniester Waterfall · Cascada Nistrului
Moldova's tallest waterfall, in the Transnistrian limestone gorge
Canyon trekking + discovering Moldova's tallest waterfall
Cascada Nistrului (also known locally as "Transnistrian Saharna Waterfall") sits in the limestone gorge of a Dniester tributary near Camenca — Transnistria, around 25 km from Rezina. With a roughly 9 m drop, it's the tallest natural waterfall in Moldova, hidden in a beech-and-hornbeam canyon, reached via a moderate hike (45 min one way) with wooden-stair descents and stream crossings. Best in spring (peak flow April-May) and after autumn rains. The spot is wild, unmarked, with a small stream and natural pool below for a cold dip. Adventurers combine it with the region's cave monasteries for a wild Dniester left-bank tour.
