Best-preserved Mongol bath ruins at Old Orhei – free-access medieval stones with cliff and valley views
Ruins of a 14th-century Mongol bath — the best-preserved urban relic at Old Orhei, free to access, with a view of the cave dwellings in the cliff
Ruins of a 14th-century medieval bathhouse, part of the Mongol city that once dominated the Răut River valley. These stone structures are the best-preserved of the three baths in the Old Orhei urban area, standing freely accessible beside the main road to Trebujeni village. From the bath remains you can see cave monasteries carved into the cliff face across the way – the footpath below leads to terraced viewpoints with sweeping valley panoramas and exposed limestone layers full of seashell fossils. The site is most atmospheric at sunset, when golden light washes the cliff face and the stones take on warm shadows. It's one of several scattered ruins that together form the Old Orhei archaeological complex (Orheiul Vechi), a UNESCO-candidate cultural landscape blending Mongol, Moldovan, and Ottoman heritage.

“The ruins are right beside the main road to Trebujeni. There is only a board with some info and nobody to guard the ruins. It is one of the 3 baths (and the best preserved) in the urban area of the mongol city from the 14th century.”
“The baths are not special. But nearby (you can see them from the baths place) there are the caves and if you go there (by foot only) you have an amazing view over the valley plus you can find a lot of seashells fossils.”
“Many ruins here If you have nothing to do in Moldova then it is worth visiting”
- Limited info board, no guide on-site
- Unpaved road on parts of the way to the ruins
